Renowned local sock brand, Falke – you can find certain products at Dis-Chem stores – has joined forces with the Absa Cape Epic as the official technical sock partner for the next 3 years.

As the pinnacle of mountain bike stage racing, the Absa Cape Epic route takes riders on a gruelling 8-day, 647km race through the rugged topographies of the Western Cape.

We reveal all the details about the gruelling route planned for the 2020 Absa Cape Epic.

Suffer in comfort

Falke is set to amplify the comfort of riders en-route through a world-class range of mountain bike specific socks.

For over 50 years, Falke has combined German engineering heritage and South African craftsmanship to produce technically advanced sporting socks.

Constantly striving to push the limits of comfort, performance and design, Falke adheres to three core principles:

  1. Fit
  2. Function
  3. Fashion

Each sock achieves a flawless fit and function through quality performance yarns and strategic placements of soft elastics, reducing friction and blisters.

Up to the challenge

Falke’s MTB-specific socks are designed to go the distance, with a reinforced heel and toe for longevity and a sensitive rib cuff to keep dirt out.

To counter the demanding Southern African climate, socks are engineered with mesh panels for ventilation, as well as Drynamix Yarns that aid in effective moisture transfer, keeping riders cool on the route and calm under pressure.

The 17th edition of the Absa Cape Epic will take place from 15-22 March 2020.
