Durban’s biggest triathlon, the Standard Bank IRONMAN® 70.3® Durban will take place on Sunday, 7 June 2020.

The 2020 edition of the popular triathlon will take place at Suncoast, Durban. The Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Durban course, featuring a 1.9km ocean swim, 90.1km bike and 21.1km run, will be set along Durban’s Golden Mile with sun-kissed beaches, allowing athletes to bike and run past the iconic Moses Mabhida stadium.

2019 saw South Africans, Rohan Meyer and Lauren Cannon, winning the men’s and women’s races respectively, despite some strong competition.

The race also saw former Springboks, Percy Montgomery and BJ Botha take part for the first time. This race has been a popular fixture amongst former Springboks, with the likes of John Smit, Stefan Terblanche, Gary Teichmann and Butch James having previously taken part.

“This race has grown and developed immensely over the last 5 years. This year we had 2991 individual athletes and 47 team entries. The women field is growing as each year we see a significant increase in the sport, 27 per cent of the field were women in 2019 and we are excited to see that number grow. This race is in the heart of the paradise city (Durban City) and we are looking forward to the 6th edition,” says Keith Bowler, Managing Director: IRONMAN South Africa.

Entries open on Monday, 9 September 2019.
