Falke, a locally designed and manufactured leading sock brand available at select Dis-Chem stores, will now manufacture face masks for South Africans during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Falke has paused their sock manufacturing activities during the national lockdown to comply with the regulations set by the government and has converted a section of their production facility at the Falke Hosiery Factory in Roslyn, Pretoria to step up their efforts to address the national shortage of face masks, keeping our nation top of mind.

Protecting ordinary South Africans

The company is now producing over 60,000 non-surgical masks per week, with a focus on creating masks for ordinary South Africans and those working in essential services during the lockdown.

These ear loop protective face masks fully cover the nose and mouth and are made from a nylon and elastane blended fabric, which means they are washable and reusable to help reduce exposure to airborne particles and liquid droplets.

These types of masks should be used in a coordinated effort to reduce the risk of contamination or infection, but are not medical masks.

Creating a safer environment

The Falke face masks will be available at Dis-Chem stores nationwide from 20 May.
